Healthy breakfast - broken wheat porridge
In my daily hustle bustle to reach office on time, I really
do not have the time to have extravagant breakfasts. But I do need something
that will be substantial enough to give me that first important nutrition for
the morning. My go-too recipe is the broken wheat porridge that I learnt from
my mom. Simple and nutritious, it keeps me going. Here is how I make it…
Ingredients…
- ½ cup Sugar Free Natura Diet Sugar
- 4 cups milk
- 2 teaspoon raisins / nuts / chopped fruits (optional)
- 1 cup broken wheat (Dalia)
Method…
Heat a big heavy bottom pan (kadai), add broken wheat and
dry roast for 5-7 minutes on low heat in ghee (clarified butter). Keep aside.
Add 4 cups of
milk in a pressure cooker and roasted broken wheat. Close the lid and cook for
2 whistles.
Open the lid and
add Sugar Free Natura Diet Sugar. Cook for 3 minutes on low heat. If the porridge appears thick, add milk.
Add fruits, nuts or raisins before serving to enhance taste and nutrition.
