Do you really want what you want?

I read an amazing article recently and it rang true in every cell of my body.

Maybe because the new year is around the corner and it is that time of the year when we will sit down and make tonnes of resolutions. Resolutions that we will feel from our heart and gut. And yet resolutions that will most likely not come true. We will want to be fit and exercise and build a six pack or killer abs or toned thighs and sexy legs. But none of it will happen. Not because we did not want it enough. No, we really really wanted it. We swooned at girls in fashion magazines with their dream like bodies and chiseled contours. We dreamed each night to wake up as those Brazilian models who seems to have 'awesome' pouring out of every part of their bodies. We decided we will take that gym membership that promises to make us healthy, happy and most importantly stunning. We even bought it at times. Along with the killer aerobics class, the Pilates session and the yoga routine. But nothing still happened. Or will happen again this year. We know that. And yet we will go ahead and cross our heart and swear to die when the clock will strike 12 on December 31, 2013. Like it did in 2012, 2011 and 2010. Right, before that too.

Maybe because I have wanted to learn cooking for ever now. But every time I step into the kitchen, yawns descend on me like tooth fairies. Every time I am asked to chop vegetables, I make excuses and every time my mom sends me a recipe I find an important assignment to work on. Each year I decide to become a pro cook, I smartly postpone it to next year because how can I become a pro cook without first getting into the skin of it. And that next year, needless to say, never comes.

Maybe because pretty much everyone around me wants to travel and have an awesome care-free life. But none of them wants to risk quitting their job and living the life of vagabond. None of them wants to get rid of the safe bondage of having a stable career with a fixed monthly salary. None of them wants to seat it out in tents or youth hostels in order to experience the true magic of travel. They want it easy, they want it safe, they want it risk-free. And yet they want to crib about their job monotony, they want to criticize their bosses for making them work hard and they want to spend their lives in a constant state of 'what if'.

So if you really think you want what you want, ask yourself if you willing to go through the pain of getting. Ask yourself if you are willing to stick it out through the dirt and agony of getting there and achieving it.

The article in question is this but there is a lot more you need to think for yourself.

Thought provoking indeed.
True each & every word of that.
The fear of change...the fear of "what if" is what makes us not choose what we always wanted to.
In my case ...I want to travel...travel a lot but the fear of "what if" does bug me..let's c..whether someday we are able to overcome that & then follow our dreams.:)

Ha ha...that is so true. God works in funny ways. All our life we pray.for what we think.we want. God gives. Then we realize that is exactly what we are not cut out for. Be careful what you wish for. You may actually get it. Life sometimes has a cruel way of teaching us that :)
