FIRST LOVE

“Hello?”

The deep crackling voice hit Nitika like searing loo. The melodious British accent tingled her feelings tantalizingly.

“Good morning, sir. This is Rebecca from the Integrated Telecom company. I would like to discuss a mobile plan with you.” The Seventeen-year old peeped at the script.

“I already have a good plan, Rebecca.” A pause. “Thank you for calling anyway. Good day.” Click.

She hung on to the phone dreamily for some time. She was sure her dream lover, her prince charming had received her very first call. Then she looked at the idols of Lakshmi and Ganesha next to her computer, that were Baba’s gift in the morning.

She prayed for strength as the voice of her first love reverberated in her heart.

oh i had a similarish story when i was a fresher!! A certain british Indian called my number twice asking for a 'Nishant' and I told him very politely that no Nishant sat there. I could not be rude cos he was so charming and polite!

he called 10 mins later to say he managed to trace Nishant's new number (as he had changed seats) and gave it to me in case others called asking for him. he he. I thought he would make excuses to keep calling, but he was a thorough gentleman whom I never spoke to again :)

I've been so busy doing nothing much that I haven't been around to visit my friends old and new. So, though my wishes are late, I mean them with my whole heart. May your year be filled with laughter. May all your surprises be happy ones. May you remember to count your blessings. May you know each day how very much you are loved. Happy new year, my friend.
